Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider
Welcome to the Basic Life Support Provider Course. BLS is the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest. You will learn the skills of high-quality CPR for victims of all ages and will practice delivery of these skills both as a single rescuer and a member of a multi rescuer team. The skills you learn in this course will enable you to recognize cardiac arrest, activate the emergency response system early, and respond quickly and confidently.

What will you learn?
You will learn the skills of CPR for victims of all ages and will practice CPR in a team setting. You will learn how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) and how to relieve choking. The skills you learn in this course will enable you to recognize emergencies such as sudden cardiac arrest and how to respond to them.
- High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
- The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
- Important early use of an AED
- Effective ventilations using a barrier device
- Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR
- Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants
